I got to go to Colorado again to hang out for a short weekend with Chet, Lori and the boys. Chet had an art show that weekend so I went to help with it a little and to be there. It was a great success!! This cancer thing has pretty much forced his hand and in a twisted and unfair way, got him to focus on his art. I can never be happy about how he’s arrived here but like that he is because his art is beautiful, real, peaceful and emotional all at the same time. I’ve seen a lot of his work and have some of it but had never seen this one before –
I’m in love with it. It hits me on an emotional level I can’t even understand – the way good art is supposed to. Even before I knew the back story or title which is “Last Trip”. It came out of a road trip with Chet’s friend Kip who died tragically after this road trip while climbing with his son.
If you’d like to see more of Chet’s work click here.
He also makes these cool lamps out of old tripods. I bought this one and it makes me smile every time I walk in my door (taken with my ShakeIt photo app on my phone).
It was a good night…. Beautiful, real, peaceful and emotional…
The night was also inspiring! Can you see why he is one of my photography heroes?!
WOW!
What beautiful work Chet creates! So glad that you were able to share in this day with him, Lori, and the boys. I love how both you and Chet tell stories with your photos—a true gift!
