Last night after dinner we made the girls get in their PJs early and then had them get in the car with a big comforter and hot chocolate and then drove around Seattle looking at Christmas Lights.
Having lived in Scotland and Ireland where they don’t really do Christmas lights to the extent we do, the snobby side of me thinks what we do in America is over the top…but the kid in me LOVES it. Luckily I tend to listen to that kid more and more. The kid in me also likes to squint her eyes to look at Christmas lights making them all blurry and magical.
Does anyone else do this? Or is it the kind of thing that I think everyone did like licking rocks that I’ve collected to see how pretty they are wet only to find out that no one really does that except me. At least give the squinty eye trick a try on your lights…you can skip the rock licking and just wash them in the sink. Lesson learned.
So, THATS’s the family thingy you mentioned last night. What fun! And I love the picture super mucho! And, “yes” to the eye squinting… but “no” to the rock licking. Love ya!
What a cozy memory making idea! We love the lights too. I always think of how those who work late nights or early dark mornings, must love their cheery glow! I hope you didn’t lick any rocks in Ireland—especially one in particular! 🙂
Licking rocks – no
Squinty eyes – yes
I miss all those OTT Christmas lights in the States.
I SQUINT TOO!!!
Laurie licks rocks all the time. You are not alone.
