I’m a little nervous setting up a Part 1 as it means that I have to actually finish at least two other posts from our vacation and the way my life has been going lately, blogging has been bottom of a long list! But I really want to share about our vacation because it was so good!! So I’m stepping out in faith that I can finish the other parts before too much longer and you wonder why on earth I’m blogging about our summer vacation in December…
Molly and Edwin were our first stop in Colorado. They live near Telluride in a little place called Trout Lake. They graciously hosted our family as well as Amy and her family. A little side note about Amy… She is my friend from Dublin. We met through book group and it was one of those friendship that you know was destined to happen. She is like family to me now and I miss her so much. I was so excited to see her!! One of our favorite things to do in Dublin was to take walks with our cameras. We did that again at Trout Lake and most of the photos are from our rambles.
First I have to show you photos of Molly and Edwin’s home. It is just too cool. Edwin did a lot of the work in building the house. It maximizes the stunning views of the lake and mountains surrounding the home.
Looking back at the house at night –
The road up around Trout Lake was originally train tracks so this next shot is of the water tower that they used to fill up the steam engine before chugging over the mountains –
At the end of the road there is a beautiful train trestle. There is a sign before you get there with a camera on it signalling people that is there is a photo op ahead. I obeyed and took a photo (or two!) –
The girls got into paddle boarding on the lake. I love this shot of G –
And a couple other random ones –
I had a feeling when we were there that my in-laws had been on this road. They have pretty much been on every Colorado back road in the area. When I asked Howard if he knew where we were he showed me his photos. They are stunning with the fall colors so I had to share.
Highlights – seeing Amy, being in the beautiful mountains, being with Molly, Edwin, Amy’s folks and Darby the dog, watching my girls try something new, watching the hummingbirds come to the feeder
Lows – saying goodbye to Amy…miss you my friend.
Oh my — sitting here at the office reading your post and am getting all teary. Lovely pictures (as always). Love your post and love you! I’m looking forward to your other installments on your trip!
Beautiful Pictures!!!! But, hey, I need to see you more now that you are back 🙂
