The Music Room had been pretty much done for a while now but I haven’t posted because I was waiting for THEE. PERFECT. PILLOWS. But alas, I haven’t found them yet so I’m posting without them and I few other details. That might not happen for a while so I wanted to show you the mostly complete Music Room. It’s nice to have you all there to motivate me to get the job done! So here are the shots –
Music Room Before –
Pretty sweet, huh?! I love it. Here is a photo of the chairs before we recovered them –
They are my favorite thing about the room!
One thing I’m unsure of is this painting… Here are the before and afters of it. The frame (which weighs a ton!) I found next to a dumpster. I painted it with chalkboard paint so the girls can color all over it. But it seems to “heavy” for the room.
I saw that quote on a blog I like (Shutter Sisters). I like the thing overall but I just don’t know. What do you think?
And now for the tally –
Goodwill
Chairs – $15 each
Foot stools – $8 each
Rug – $60
Quilt – $13
Basket – $2
Fabric Store – This included all the fabric, special buttons and trim – $85
Hardware Store – All spray paint, picture hangers etc. – $27
Upholstery Gun Rental – $10
Grand total – $258!
Not bad for a whole room redo! It helped that I had the art and the lamp and Lora long-term lent me the table but still! Plus we found a personal check for $1200 in one of the chairs so I’m way ahead of the game. Haha! Just kidding, of course. Wouldn’t that be great if we found that in cash!!
Happy thrifting!
I see what you mean about it being to “heavy” for the room — but it is so freakin cool that I cannot part with it.
Love the room. Can’t wait to chill in it tomorrow night with my stretch pants and big appetite!
Oh SUGAR!! (Clasps hands under chin) I LOVE IT!! The chairs make me feel like singing! What a transformation. Next time I’m there we should all get out our instruments and christen it. I agree the black frame is too much. It’s like an adams apple giving the drag queen away. I think it needs to go somewhere else. (my opinion which is humble not because I say it is but because who am I? A decorator? No. I’m like an aunt.)
You’re a thrift store rock star.
