Our friends Bill and Libby have a whole made up family dictionary from words or saying that someone in their family made at one time.  A few of them have rubbed off on us including the title of this blog.  This came from their daughter who, after seeing someone’s big nice house said, “They look like rich”.

I have always been so thankful for the many wonderful people in my life.  I am rich with friendships.  Stinking filthy rich.

I met Gillian right before my 16th birthday.  I had moved to Aberdeenshire, Scotland with my family that August and was desperately homesick and missing my friends back home in Yakima.  Gillian moved to Alford (our village) from another part of Scotland a few months later and was two years ahead of me in school so I didn’t really get to talk to her until a Christmas Dance just before school was out for Christmas Holidays.   During Christmas break I remember wanting to phone her but was too shy.  I found out later that she was thinking the same thing!  After that first Christmas break we were always together.  Most weekends were spent at one another’s homes.  I immediately had someone I could be myself around.

26 years later she is someone I just pick up with where we left off.  All the years apart and miles don’t matter one bit.

Even better is how much our kids like each other.  When we were in Ireland we got to see them more often and our two youngest even look alike!

I’m so thankful for this family in my life.  Love and miss you all heaps!
