First, Happy Father’s Day to my dad.  When I was young my mom’s friend said that my dad should run for president and that statement shocked me at the time.  It did get me though to look at my dad in a new light.  To look at him maybe the way others see him instead of just my dad.  He is kind, humble, funny and loves to laugh.  There is never a holiday at our house where someone who doesn’t have family to go to isn’t invited.  He is always cheering for the under-dog.  I could always ask him questions about faith and feel like I got a very honest answer.  Many times it was, “I don’t know” but that helped me wrestle with it on my own as well as teaching me that it was OK to question God and still have a faith.  I remember getting him a hat for Father’s Day that said “Worlds Best Dad” on it.  It was cheaply made, it think even out of Styrofoam, to look like a those flat straw hats with the band of striped ribbon around them.  He wore it to church and I was a little embarrassed that he liked it so much.  Now I know he didn’t like the hat, but liked the gift.    I feel so blessed to have the kind of man my father is for a dad.

Next is my Father-in-law.  He is a very thoughtful person.  He loves to read and to study either scripture or a good book.  We could talk books forever (P.S. I haven’t forgotten to send you my bookgroup list H!). He has an amazing sense of humor.  I keep saying we need to write some of the things he says down but mostly they are funny because of the timing, a skill that I am envious of.  It is to Howard that I credit my love of photography.  He is a great photographer himself and gave me his old camera way back when my daughter was about 1.  I feel very blessed to have him as a father as well!

And last but definitely not least is my husband Ben, father of my girls.  We always say, “When Ben does something, HE DOES SOMETHING!”   He doesn’t do anything halfway.   He is all in.  This is how he loves his girls. I’m so very thankful for who he is as a father.  He said he had a premonition that he would be the father of girls and he was right.  He knows how to be a father to girls even though he grew up with all boys.  I am so blessed to have Ben as the father of my girls!

Thank you wonderful Fathers.  I love you all.
