Sophie

Sophie was a pleasure to photograph for her Senior Portraits in Kirkland.  She came with adorable outfits and she has a diversity in her facial expressions that made it super fun to capture her.  She has the look of a timeless portrait and would have easily fit in a English painting or the cover of Vogue! Classic and beautiful.

I also loved the outfits that she chose. They were current without being trendy and they didn’t distract from the point of the portraits – Sophie! I usually suggest a couple different tops with the same pair of jeans (makes changing easier and most portraits are waist up anyway) and, for girls, if their personality fits, a dress.  This gives lots of opportunities to bring out their uniqueness as well as provide a variety of images. She did a great job picking out her outfits!

Senior Portraits in Kirkland

We took Sophie’s Senior pictures at one of my favorite portrait locations in Kirkland; the Kirkland Waterfront.  I love that I can go from a classic architecture, to lush gardens to urban hardscapes and waterfront with beautiful views of downtown Seattle across the lake.

While the summer fires this past year were devastating and wreaked havoc on our air quality, the smoke coverage actually resulted in some surprisingly great photography lighting.  Not only did the smoke create diffuse light (which photographers love!), it gave the light coming through the smoke a warm, beautiful glow. I was definitely conflicted as I loved the effect from the smoke while knowing it was causing so many families and businesses to vacate and/or lose everything.

Sophie, I had a great time tromping around to take your Senior Portraits in Kirkland with you and your mom! Thank you for allowing me to take your portraits! It was such a pleasure to get to know you both! Wishing you all the best in your next adventure as you graduate from Mercer Island in the Spring!
